The LEAD Academy’s mission is to encourage the retention of women attorneys in the legal profession and to assist them in attaining the highest levels of success in their firms, organizations, and communities.
In 2027, the LEAD Academy celebrates ten years of LEAD graduates with LEAD ON! — a special anniversary year of programming, content, and networking created exclusively for the LEAD community.
Because 2027 is dedicated to LEAD ON!, there will be no LEAD class of 2027. Recruitment for the class of 2028 opens in fall 2027.
The Bexar County Women's Bar Foundation LEAD Academy is the premier leadership academy for women attorneys working in and around Bexar County. Our goal for each class is to help talented women excel in the practice of law and remain engaged in the legal profession.
The legal profession loses experienced women at every step above associate — not for lack of talent, but for lack of support at the moments that decide a career. LEAD prepares women attorneys to take the next step and become leaders in their field. Participants learn to identify their goals, leverage their strengths, project confidence and credibility, promote their value, build a network, and bring others with them.
The Bexar County Women’s Bar Foundation’s LEAD Academy prepares women attorneys to take the next step in their careers and become leaders in their field. Participants learn to identify their personal goals, leverage their strengths, project confidence and credibility, promote their value, develop a network, and inspire others to follow them all while managing the unique challenges of being a woman in the legal profession.
The LEAD Program

Bexar County Women’s Bar Association and Foundation
Founded in 1983, the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association is one of the leading bar organizations in Texas. With more than 275 members, including judges, legal assistants, friends, honorary members, and law students, BCWB has a strong tradition of service to the community and of promoting equal justice under the law. BCWB aims to promote women attorneys, from varying backgrounds and practices, through education, networking, mentoring, and social support systems.
LEAD is proud to be a BCWB Foundation Program.
